Director Els van der Plas will leave the Prince Claus Fund

On 17 January 2011, Els van der Plas will bid farewell to the Prince Claus Fund as its director. After more than thirteen years she will take a new step in her career by becoming director of Premsela, the Dutch Platform for Design and Fashion. Since its founding in 1997, Els van der Plas has turned the Prince Claus Fund into an international institute for culture and development that is recognised for its quality and innovation, and that is strongly rooted in the field of culture and development worldwide.

Els van der Plas took office at the Prince Claus Fund as its director on 1 May 1997. She built up the Fund and managed it with enthusiasm and expertise. She was one of the key persons involved in the Prince Claus Awards and was involved in many cultural projects, of which include those in Baghdad, Beirut and Kinshasa.
