Dutch art and culture?

Dutch art and culture abroad is culture from the Netherlands: the artist or performer is Dutch and lives here or has worked as or studied to be an artist in the Netherlands for an extended period and still lives here. Nationality is not a decisive criterion, in other words. SICA does not include the activities of Dutch people who live and work abroad in Offshore. The rule for organisations is that they must be based in the Netherlands.

Sometimes it is difficult to determine whether or not an activity should be included in Offshore. SICA gives preference to the definitions and descriptions used by organisations such as the sector institutes. This can work out differently for each genre.

Measurement units of time and place
Activities in different sectors can be difficult to compare in terms of their scale and duration. Offshore includes a number of ‘keys’ that take the characteristics of activities in different disciplines into account and make it possible to make comparisons of a sort between sectors.
