Umbrella organisations

Umbrella and sector organisations are knowledge and network organisations that operate within a sector. Their tasks include supporting the collective promotion and professionalisation of a sector. Umbrella organisations focus on knowledge and information. The core responsibility of the sector and trade organisations is to represent the interests of their members.

These organisations often have good contacts with similar institutes abroad and they cooperate on a broad range of activities, for example European policy and legislation.
