Russia - The Netherlands 2013

In 2013 the Netherlands and Russia celebrate their special bilateral relation (NLRF2013). A wide-ranged programme will be shaped to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, culture, sports, education, science and civil society. A number of ministries and organisations are involved in the set-up of the programme, including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SICA. The opening of the bilateral year will take place in the first half of 2013, followed by a Russian programme in the Netherlands.

Dutch cultural programme in Russia
SICA coordinates the cultural programme of NLRF2013. Working closely together with a programme council, artistic director Sjeng Scheijen builds on the Dutch cultural programme in Russia. The NLRF2013 programme council consists of Mireille Berman Dutch Foundation for Literature, Arjen Davidse Music Center the Netherlands, Mayke Jongsma Mondriaan Fund, Anja Krans Theater Instituut Netherlands, Claudia Landsberger EYE Film Institute, Alma Ploeger NAi and Premsela and Pieter Zeeman Performing Arts Fund NL. The focus of the Dutch programme in Russia is in the second half of 2013.

Criteria for participating in the cultural programme of NLRF2013
Artistic director Sjeng Scheijen has formulated a number of starting points for the programme of NLRF2013 as an artistic framework. Download the artistic framework and critera. These starting points should inspire the set-up of the whole cultural programme. Projects that are eligible for financial contribution should meet the following criteria:

  • The Dutch project organiser has a partner in Russia.
  • The project is sustainable and should not be limited to a one-time event.
  • Activities take place in Moscow and/or Saint Petersburg.
  • The project takes place in the second half of 2013.

Plans, questions?
For a number of months SICA has been collecting ideas, plans and project proposals for the cultural programme of NLRF2013. Until now, over 300 projects have been registered, but we are still welcoming new proposals. SICA is responsible only for the Dutch programme in Russia, but we also collect Russian projects taking place in the Netherlands for our information. Have you already submitted your project proposal and do you have any new of additional information? Please e-mail us. If you have any questions on the cultural programme or the above-mentioned criteria, please contact one of SICA staff members for Russia (see on the right).
