Retouramont and Arnolfini Gallery

Fabrice Guillot founded the dance company Retouramont in 1995, together with Geneviève Mazin. Guillot’s training as a professional mountaineer has enabled him to master an endless range of positions and movements. Retouramont has discovered the ‘city as a stage’ and performs all over the world with ‘vertical dances’, an artistic mix of acrobatics, tightrope walking and modern dance in public spaces. The dancers perform their art at surprising locations including churches, bridges, hospitals, lighthouses and swimming pools.

As curator at Arnolfini, the British centre for contemporary art, Nav Haq has put together an ambitious multidisciplinary programme within the exhibition space and beyond. The projects are critical and engaged, and create a stronger connection between the institute and the local community. This programme also led to a reflection on what it means to be a contemporary arts centre with an international focus.
